If you are using cost per click advertising networks like Google Adsense as a way of monetizing your blog, I know you will definitely agree with me when I say one of the utmost goal of every blogger is to increase CPC (Cost Per Click) and CTR (Click Through Rate).
These two work hand in hand and even though you are able to increase your CTR but your CPC remains low, you are most likely not going to reach your target.
Google Adsense and other advertising networks use CPC, eCPM (Effective Cost Per Mile) and CTR (Click Through Rate) to determine how much money you earn from each click.
Here is an example of how earnings per click are calculated. Let us assume you are getting paid $0.02 per click (Cost Per Click). If you are getting a total of 20 clicks with a 3% CTR your earnings will be ($0.02 x 20 =$0.4) per day.
If you increase the CTR to 5% and the CPC to $0.2. The higher CTR will most probably increase your total clicks further and since you have higher CPC, your earnings will now be much higher – ($0.2 x 25 clicks=$5).
Now, let us assume that there was no change in your CTR, you will earn ($0.2 x 20 clicks = $4) . From this example, you can clearly see the importance of having a higher CPC. Even if you CTR is low, you earnings will still increase but it would be much better if you would increase both the CTR and CPC.
From the above examples, you can see both CPC and CTR are importance when it comes to determining how much money you earn. In summary, you must work towards;
- Writing quality, unique targeted contents (contents with high paying keywords) – to increase CPC
- Increasing your blog traffic and
- Increasing your CTR
